Best Coast - End Of The World

Best Coast have released a cover version of Skeeter Davis’ ‘End Of The World’ in honour of the apocalypse.

Well, we survived. The much publicised prediction by American Christian leader Harold Camping that the Rapture was set to come to pass proved to be futile, with the world continuing as normal.

Except, of course, for all the smug atheists decrying organised religion…

Harold Camping predicted that the Rapture was due to being at 6pm yesterday (May 22nd). With the whole planet still here, it seems that the day of judgement has been postponed.

The prediction caused an enormous stir, with Best Coast getting in on the fun. The West Coast group recorded a special cover in honour of the prediction, tackling ‘End Of The World’ by Skeeter Davis.

A 1962 country classic, Bethany Cosentino & Co. deliver a typically dream like, fuzzed up cover. Available to stream for free, Best Coast tweeted: “In honor of the end of the world i did a crappy garageband cover of skeeter’s #1 jam + snacks makes an appearance”.

Snacks, of course, is the singer’s cat and a cult figure to Best Coast fans

Just a collection of recollections,
conversations consisting,
of the kinds of marks we make,
when we're trying to make a pen work again.

A lifetime of them.
